The build was created under an extremely strict budget: one Divine Orb, or approximately 440 Exalted Orbs. The challenge also prohibited buying or crafting a weapon, making the build even more difficult to assemble.
The Core Mechanics
Hollow Palm Technique allows the character to attack as though using a quarterstaff while having both hand slots empty. Instead of relying on a weapon, the build gains offensive power from its equipped armor and skill level.
The build benefits from:
Increased attack speed based on Evasion from equipped armor
Increased critical strike chance based on Energy Shield
Unarmed attacks that scale with skill level
This makes hybrid Evasion and Energy Shield gear extremely valuable. The build turns defensive stats into offensive power while maintaining strong survivability.
Gear and Budget Priorities
Laktonal Caress and Power Charges
Laktonal Caress is the main engine of the build. It provides power charges to allies in your presence, which directly supports the Hollow Form setup.
Hollow Form creates an Astral Projection at a targeted location. When power charges are available, additional images can be created. These projections attack enemies and can generate more power charges on hit, creating a powerful cycle of damage and charge generation.
Flat Damage Rings
The build uses rings with as much flat damage as possible, prioritizing:
Physical damage
Cold damage
Lightning damage
Because Hollow Palm does not use a traditional weapon, these flat damage bonuses become particularly important.
Resistance should also be capped at 75%. Runic Meridians can help fill missing resistance gaps while keeping the rest of the gear affordable.
Defensive Armor and Belt Choices
The main armor pieces prioritize Energy Shield and Evasion. Spirit is valuable when the budget allows it, but the priority is creating a balance between defense and the offensive scaling provided by Hollow Palm.
For difficult mapping content, Forgotten Warden provides strong defensive and offensive value, including an additional companion that can contribute extra damage.
For bosses with large health pools, Ryslatha's Coil can provide a significant damage increase. Its drawback is that it increases maximum physical attack damage while reducing minimum physical attack damage, creating a more variable but generally stronger damage profile.
Skill Setup and Damage Scaling
Whirling Assault and Hollow Form
Whirling Assault is the primary damage skill. Efficiency helps reduce its resource cost, while Heavy Swing improves its multiplicative melee damage.

This allows the build to convert its constant power-charge generation into additional offensive scaling.
Defensive Layers for Endgame Content
Energy Shield, Evasion, and Guard
The build is designed to remain resilient rather than relying purely on damage.
Guard charms provide an additional defensive layer that absorbs incoming damage before it reaches Energy Shield or Life.
Ghost Dance further supports the Energy Shield defense by restoring Energy Shield through Ghost Shrouds based on the character's Evasion.
Wind Dancer also provides additional defense while contributing damage through its Gale Force attack.
Blasphemy and Enemy Control
Blasphemy is particularly useful for mapping. Repulsion constantly pushes enemies away, allowing the Monk to buy POE2 Currency remain safer while dealing Whirling Assault damage.
