You'll notice pretty quickly that Barn Finds in Forza Horizon 6 aren't handed out just because you've raced a lot. The game leans harder into the Discover Japan journal, so exploration matters. If you're saving FH6 Credits for upgrades or restorations, it's worth pushing stamp progress early instead of wandering from barn to barn with no rumours active.
What actually unlocks Barn FindsThe old wristband-style system is gone here. Barn rumours are tied to seven Discover Japan stamp ranks, and each rank adds another small group of cars to the pool. You don't lose access to earlier rumours, so there's no need to panic if you skip one for a while. Most players will move through the ranks by mixing story chapters, touge runs, delivery jobs, photo spots, mascot tasks, Drift Club Japan events, day trips, and car collection goals. Stories are usually the best use of time, though. They push the journal forward fast, and they don't feel like a grind if you rotate them with a few races.
Quick route for stamp progression
  • Start with yellow-badge story events, as they give strong Discover Japan progress.
  • Clear nearby photography spots and mascot challenges while travelling between events.
  • Use street races and touge battles to fill gaps instead of farming one activity over and over.
  • Check the journal often, because the next Barn Find rumour may appear sooner than you expect.

The full set is locked behind Master Explorer, so the last two cars won't show until you've reached 7/7. That makes the stamp system the real gate, not your garage size, festival rank, or how many miles you've driven.
Cars and regions worth watchingThe 15 Barn Finds are fixed, even if the order of rumours can feel a bit different from one save to another. Early on, you can pick up the 2005 Honda NSX-R GT, then the 1969 Toyota 2000GT and 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500. The middle ranks add cars like the 1971 Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R, 1989 Nissan Pao, 1982 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3, 1984 Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, 1962 Lincoln Continental, and the 1998 Pennzoil NISMO Skyline GT-R. Later, keep an eye out for the 1997 Mitsubishi Montero Evolution, 1997 Lamborghini Diablo SV, 1998 Nissan R390 GT1, 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Time Attack, 1983 Nissan Skyline Turbo Super Silhouette, and 1991 Mazda 787B. Ohtani, Ito, Takashiro, and Shimanoyama carry several of the better finds, while Nangan, Minamino, and Hokubu each hide a smaller piece of the collection.
Restoration, treasure maps, and smart spendingFinding the barn is only half the job. Once the cutscene plays, the car goes off for restoration, and you'll need to wait before driving it. You can pay to speed that up, but I'd only do it for cars you'll actually use, like the Mazda 787B, Nissan R390 GT1, or NSX-R GT. The Treasure Map helps by showing locations, but it won't skip stamp requirements or repair timers. If you're trying to finish the garage without slowing your build plans, comparing upgrades, restoration costs, and even a cheap buy FH6 Credits option can help you keep the whole hunt moving without wasting cash on every dusty shell you uncover.
